The Physical Need
When I was faced with the reality of India's water crisis, I could hardly believe how utterly desperate the need is for water in this nation! Millions of India’s men, women, and children (like you and me… our brothers… our sisters) perish every year for lack of clean water—a necessity we hardly give a thought to! Shallow wells near villages are often completely dry for the majority of the year. Many of India’s rivers are fed with sewage and wastewater from growing cities and industries, reducing these rivers to nothing more than fetid sewers.
Imagine you lived in a village in the state of Orissa, India, and had to bathe and wash your clothes in the only water source available: a small pond that dried out in the summer. And even when there was water in the pond, it was often dark green with algae and caused you to get sick. You also had to share this murky pond with 500 other people and all of their livestock. This is a day-to-day reality for so many lives in India! When my eyes were opened to this need, I knew I had a choice: I could choose to take action and be part of something bigger than myself, or I could turn away from this opportunity to help those who are desperate. I want to open my arms to these precious people and do what I can to meet their dire need!

The Spiritual Need
As desperate as this physical need is, it is only an illustration of an unfathomably worse spiritual reality—millions upon millions of these dear men, women, and children are dying with a spiritual thirst that is never quenched! They live in hopelessness, despair, and bondage, and they desperately need the water of Jesus Christ—the only water that will satisfy them for eternity. God opened my eyes to this spiritual need, and I knew that I wanted to seize this opportunity to impact eternity!
