Living Water Trek

In response to India's need, the following plan was laid on my heart…

This July, I’ll spend ~30 days biking and running the entire distance from the Canadian border to the Mexican border on Highway 101 in order to raise money (in a “donate-per-mile” fashion) for Gospel for Asia’s “Jesus Wells” ministry. My hope is that, through this bike-a-thon, individuals will freely give money to support these Jesus Wells and the incredible impact they produce! Before the trip and along the actual route, I’ll be sharing about these Wells with churches, groups, and individuals in order to raise money and support.

What are “Jesus Wells”?

     Gospel for Asia’s (GFA) Jesus Wells are constant-flowing, pure wells that are dug in in areas where there is a grave need for water (each well costs approximately $1000). These wells not only provide ample clean water to desperately needy villages, but they also give the native missionaries of GFA's nearby churches and Bible colleges immediate access and a wide open door to share the love of Jesus with every villager who comes to draw water. Whole villages have been transformed through the digging of a Jesus Well. Hope bubbles over as villagers finally have a constant supply of water so clean that they call it “sweet” water! As they quench their physical thirst at a Jesus Well, these villagers also hear (many for the first time!) about the living water of Jesus Christ! Jesus Wells are open for all to drink from, even the Dalits (the “untouchables”… the lowest group in the Hindu caste system), who are often barred from other water sources because of their “uncleanness.” These Jesus Wells are an immensely effective and power-soaked way to meet the most vital physical and spiritual needs of the precious people of India!

 How to Join In!

There are two ways for you to join with me in the powerful work GFA is doing through these Wells:

1.  You can give money to help build a GFA well (or more than one!) in a "donate-per-mile" way in connection with my bike trek.... For example: you could choose to donate $1 for a 30 mile portion of my bike trek ($30 total), or you could donate $1 for a  200 mile portion of the trek ($200 total), or you could donate 10 cents for every mile I cover (~$185 total since I cover ~1850 miles). The choice is YOURS! However many miles you want to "sponsor" (at whatever rate) is completely up to you! (One well costs ~ $1,000).

• To do this, please make your checks payable to Gospel for Asia. On the memo line designate “Jesus Wells.”  (100% of the money you send to GFA will be used to build wells—no money will be taken out for administrative costs!)
• All checks donated to GFA are tax deductible, and you will receive a tax deduction receipt from GFA indicating this. You may certainly donate cash; however, only checks will be tax deductible.

2.  You can give money towards the expenses of the bike trek. Costs include lodging for 30 days, gas for the support vehicle, bikes, and bike equipment. I am working and saving money to put towards these costs, but I could still use your help!

• To do this, please make checks payable to Emily Timmer. On the memo line designate “Living Water Trek.”
• Checks donated for the bike trip costs are not tax deductible. You may donate cash, but please indicate your intention for your cash donation—either Jesus Wells or the bike trip.

**When you send your checks and cash to the address below, I will then forward them to Gospel for Asia's home offices in Texas.**
